It is naturally a forest species, living especially along streams in giant Pandanus, bird’s nest ferns and the common lily (Colospermum montanum). It is also found, though at much lower densities, in rural gardens, plantations, and in pandans in pastureland. It breeds by direct development, the eggs being laid in leaf axils. The clutch size is less than 30 eggs.
Listed as Near Threatened because its Extent of Occurrence is probably less than 20,000 km2, but the species is adaptable and survives in disturbed habitats.
